Osaka-based Nobuko Watanabe seeks to refine a distinct technique that involves wrapping wooden frames in cloth to make reliefs. Recently, her works have demonstrated an exhaustive knowledge of the particular qualities of her chosen materials, a paring down of her works down to the simplest iterations. This is her first solo show in Tokyo in 8 years after participating in a series of art fairs in Germany, France and Korea.
