Félix Thiollier
Félix Thiollier (1842-1914) was a leading 19th century exponent of pictorialism and naturalism in European photography whose work and career remained unknown for a long time - throughout his life Thiollier maintained no links to other photographers of the time, exhibited none of his work, belonged to no professional associations, nor sold any of his work during his lifetime. His work finally emerged into the light in the early 1980s thanks to one of his descendants, Bertrand Julien-Laferrière.

This retrospective exhibition, the first to be held in Japan, presents a rare selection of over 170 works including vintage prints and autochrome works that number among the very first examples of color photography.
