"Unknown Treasures of the Rouault Collection" Exhibition

Panasonic Shiodome Museum of Art
Finished

Artists

Georges Rouault
Georges Rouault's (1871-1958) collection of prints "Réincarnations du Père Ubu" was commissioned by the art dealer Ambroise Vollard. These narrative works depicted the black populations of French colonies, an unprecedented theme at the time. This exhibition, organized with the support of the Rouault Foundation, features a selection of oil paintings, watercolors, prints and archival materials, the majority of which have not been previously exhibited, in an attempt to reassess the legacy of the Père Ubu series.
