Ai Yamaguchi "Kiyu"

Mizuma Art Gallery - Ichigaya
Finished

Artists

Ai Yamaguchi
Ai Yamaguchi's works use delicate lines and colors and a unique choice of support to depict young girls who make a living as prostitutes, alluding to the bawdy entertainments of the Edo period. This exhibition focuses on the 18-panel series of wall murals entitled "Hyaku no Hana, Yuki wa Furitsutsu", her biggest work to date (a "futon canvas"), as well as some of her smallest pieces. Viewers will be able to enjoy a serene tranquility permeating the entire exhibition space that is akin to the experience of walking on top of a fresh coat of snow.
