Hiroko Masuko
Hiroko Masuko, born in Miyagi prefecture in 1982, received her MA From Miyagi University of Education in 2008. She held a solo exhibition at Tokyo Wonder Site Hongo in 2009 and won a prize at the 10th Gunma Biennale For Young Artists 2010.
Masuko creates overwhelming spectacles on the subject of bonsai with her pen. These bonsai plants move our heart with their shapes and transformations. Her paintings, which she calls "seeds of Bonsai", undergo unexpected transformations into dynamic works like "Flying Bonsai" or "Bonsai Sword". This exhibition features around 20 new pen drawings and a few sculptures.
