Yuichi Yokoyama Exhibition

Nanzuka Underground
Finished

Artists

Yuichi Yokoyama
This exhibition showcases some 18 paintings produced during Yokoyama's open studio residency at Nanzuka Agenda Shibuya from November 2010 through February 2011, as well as original illustrations from a serial manga called "Color Engineering" that ran in Studio Voice magazine from 2004-5.

The series showcases the artist's interest in construction sites for buildings, dams and various other architectural projects, as well as the distinctive sense of time, rhythm and process that permeate the frames of his work. In the face of massive landscapes and the overwhelming grandeur of nature, Yokoyama's human protagonists are insignificant and powerless agents who can only look on in awe.
