"Takashi Shimizu's Documents" Exhibition

Musashino Art University Museum & Library
Finished

Artists

Takashi Shimizu
Commemorating the 80th anniversary of the founding of the sculpture department at Musashino Art University, this exhibition offers viewers a rare opportunity to view a selection of archival materials that belonged to Takashi Shimizu (1897-1981), the former head of the department and one of its longest serving academics. These exhibits demonstrate his involvement with the deep theoretical and emotional debates surrounding abstraction vs. figuration, his experiences traveling through Europe and the US, and more.
