It was widely reported in the media that in the catastrophic tsunami following the March 11th earthquake the famous Rokkaku-do site designed by Tenshin Okakura was washed away. At the same time, in certain areas many other museums suffered damage and there are venues closed four months after the quake, with some still uncertain when they can re-open.

This exhibition raws on the collections of 9 museums damaged in the March disaster, including key works by artists connected to the areas affected, works connected to Tenshin Okakura, and contemporary art works reflecting the post-Chernobyl society.
