"Eel Expo Tokyo" Exhibition

The University of Tokyo, Hongo Campus
Finished
Living in rivers and marshes, eels were a valuable source of food for our ancestors. Their remains have been found in ruins and excavation sites all around the world since the time of the Jomon period. Eels also figure widely in literature, ukiyo-e woodblock prints, rakugo storytelling performances and films.

This exhibition is an attempt to arrive at a comprehensive understanding of eels through the lens of the natural and social sciences and the humanities.
