Hoitsu Sakai, Kyosai Kawanabe, Buncho Tani, Bunyo Tosaka et al.
On display at this exhibition are works by a group of Edo era folk painters who sought to challenge the predominant Kano school of artists active at the same time. These paintings also explore the changing relationship between Edo period culture and its art patrons.
