A pioneer of modern Spanish painting, Francisco de Goya (1746-1828) is renowned for his sharp, critical gaze that sought to depict a variety of social events and situations during one of Europe's most tumultuous historical periods. This exhibition showcases a selection of 72 oil paintings and sketches by Goya from the Museo del Prado in Madrid, widely considered to possess one of the finest collections of European paintings in the world. A total of 51 prints from the collection of the National Museum Of Western Art, Tokyo will also be exhibited alongside them.
