Artists

Midori Mitamura
Mitamura (b. 1964 in Aichi prefecture) has exhibited her works in many countries around the world since she started her career as an artist in 1993. In 2006, she held a solo exhibition at the Secession (Austria), the first show by a Japanese artist since Nobuyoshi Araki exhibited there in 1997. She has also participated in many group exhibitions held at the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography, Moscow Museum of Modern Art (Russia) and the Museum of Modern Art in Salzburg (Austria). She will participate in an artist in residence program in Melbourne (Australia) this April.

Mitamura's works are "three-dimensional dramas that spectators can step into". Her installation work combines photography, film, furniture and small objects like book illustrations.

This exhibition will showcase work from the "empty element" and "Frame" series, both of which were shot on the way to her exhibitions and artist in residence programs overseas.
