The Department of Inter Media Art strives to transcend the traditional delineations of art practice by continually questioning the meaning of art itself, and the role of human expression and how it relates to society as a whole. The catastrophic events of March 11th and the drastic changes that occurred have affected us each individually and have changed the questions we ask ourselves.
It is inevitable for students in the Department that artistic expression becomes a response to this new reality in some way. In the planning for this exhibition the students came together to discuss details, negotiate, plan and prepare, and although their efforts were often clumsy, each element in the process served to push the significance of their expression from the smaller realm of the university, to the outside world and the very real present. It is here where these thoughts meet, intersect and possibly find some sort of conclusion.
