"Traditional Japanese Packaging" Exhibition

Meguro Museum of Art
Finished
This exhibition showcases a selection of traditional Japanese packaging from the collection of Hideyuki Oka (1905-1995), a graphic designer and avid collector of candy wrappers, food containers and other packaging made using natural materials like washi paper, straw, bamboo and wood, all of which were cultivated domestically. In these materials, Oka believed that he had discovered a spirit and aesthetic unique to the Japanese people.
