Artists

Jun Shirasu
Shirasu received the first Joana Abranches Pinto Prize from the Portuguese Embassy in February 2011.

Following success at his solo exhibition "Little Garden of Jun Shirasu" held at the AB1 gallery in Macau from December 2010 to February 2011, this show features a new series of stone etchings. Different from etchings on paper or "Azulejo" (painted tilework) - two mediums that Shirasu has mastered over the course of his long career - stone etchings perfectly express the sensitive touch of his hand.

Inspired by patterns found in Asian and Persian mythology and the shape of insects and fish, Shirasu evinces a profound, thoughtful respect for lost civilizations and species, discovering a past time from which the world began.
