Kazuya Yamamoto
Kazuya Yamamoto's sculptures seem to possess an existence themselves, leaving a very mysterious impression on viewers. He gathers shapes in a complex way that creates association, such as between shells and coral, dresses and hair, forming an overall symmetry. His materials seem like organic things like bone and shells, with unique sensibilities of both the gentle and the hard. He uses pale transparent resin so light passes partly through inside the objects.

Yamamoto uses no machinery for his work, adopting a tenacious approach to sculpting. His work by hand can take him many weeks, from forming the clay through to the final chiseling. In terms of his subject and sensibility, the artist regards his technique as close to that of painting, with the process itself important for creating work.
