Artists

Seiichi Shirai
Seiichi Shirai (1905-1983) was a legendary maverick architect who was also regarded as a philosopher and poet. Keeping a measured distance from the trends of postwar Japanese modernism, Shirai created distinctive buildings rich in symbolism and narrative. This exhibition traces the arc of his entire career through a selection of architectural works, calligraphy, book bindings and more.
