This exhibition honors Hirayama Ikuo's outstanding contribution to the preservation of cultural heritage, and seeks to renew awareness of the value of heritage preservation as well as highlight challenges being faced in the field. Works on exhibit include many of the Buddhist sculptures and wall paintings which captivated Hirayama, and which originated in and around India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, China and Cambodia, marking the trail of Buddhism's traversal across Asia.

LG WILLIAMS/ESTATE OF LG WILLIAMS, IN ABSENTIA

“In Absentia” is the second consecutive show of
LG Williams at Super Window Project. Although
if it may be interpreted as a sequel to his previous exhibition “Closed”, and an extended statement about the “absence of art”— or even a
commentary on Hans Christian Andersen’s tale,
“The Emperors New Clothes”— it is more of an
answer to Leonardo Da Vinci’s famous quote “La
pittura è cosa mentale”, and, of course, another
occasion to have some serious fun. With this
seemingly obvious and deceptively simplistic attempt, Williams draws on a long history of the
missing object in conceptual art while deliberately twisting it.

The show consists of fifteen museum labels displayed on the white walls of the viewing room
with spotlights directed at the absent artworks.
Each label presents the absent work as follows:
Artist name, artwork title, year, medium, dimensions, collection.

Born in 1969 (USA), LG Williams lives and works in Los Angeles, Honolulu and Kyoto.

今回始めて平山さんの作品を見ました。予想していた以上に素晴らしい。より立体的に見えるような技法や色もやわらかく作品を何時間でも眺めていたくなるような作品で、何故か気持ちが暖かくなるの感じました。亡くなられてしまったのが、残念。
