"Art Walk: Selections from the Collection of the Bridgestone Museum of Art" Exhibition
This event has ended.
The Bridgestone Museum of Art has an extensive collection of modern Western and Japanese art plus fine examples of antiquities and postwar art. Walking through the galleries, you can travel beyond time and region and enjoy the paintings as if you were on a journey.
Presented in this exhibition are approximately 170 works from the collection of the Bridgestone Museum of Art. The main focus lies on the development of Western art from Impressionism by artists such as Monet and Renoir via Cézanne to the twentieth century featuring works by Matisse, Picasso, and others. There are also modern Japanese paintings by artists such as Takeji Fujishima and Shigeru Aoki, and examples of postwar abstract art. Recent acquisitions in celebration of the sixtieth anniversary of the opening of the museum include a painting by the Impressionist artist Gustave Caillebotte and a painting by the modern Japanese artist Shikanosuke Oka.
