Max Ernst "Figure x Scape"

Aichi Prefectural Museum of Art
Finished

Artists

Max Ernst
This exhibition presents works of the renowned Surrealist painter Max Ernst (1891-1976) under two themes, "figure" and "landscape." A wide variety of figures, such as birds, humans, angels, animals, plants and monsters appear in Ernst's works as things that are closely tired to his distinctive spatial expression that brings in haphazardness. Through approximately 120 works brought together from inside and outside the country, this exhibition attempts to reveal the artist's idiosyncratic interests beyond the boundaries of Surrealism.
