Edward Burne-Jones
Edward Burne-Jones was a nineteenth century British painter known for his intricate realism and unparalleled imagination, who created large-scale paintings, church stained glass windows and book illustrations. As a book cover designer he is known also as a supporter of the Arts and Crafts Movement of William Morris. This exhibition, the first solo retrospective of Burne-Jones in Japan, features some 80 oil paintings, watercolors, sketches, rare books and tapestries, all representative works from the major series and showing for the first time in Japan.
