Ryan McGinley
At the age of 22, Ryan McGinley has attracted a great deal of attention for his self-made show and self-published art book in 2000. 3 years later, he held a solo exhibition at the Whitney Museum of American Art at the youngest age in the history of the museum.

This year, Ryan McGinley's photo book surveying his career from 1999 through the present, "Ryan McGinley: Whistle for the Wind" has been published by Rizzoli. Silvia Wolf, the ex-Whitney's Sondra Gilman Curator of Photography, remarked, "Unlike many past photographs of teen culture, McGinley's images lack irony, boredom and angst. There is a disarming delight McGinley and his subjects appear to take in their lifestyle. With images that are charged with spontaneity, candor, and exuberance, McGinley adds new energy to the genre."

This exhibition showcases his latest series "Animals". Acts of scratching, grasping, biting and embrace between animals and the naked models demonstrates intensity as well as tenderness. Coinciding with this exhibition, Ryan McGinley's road trip series "Reach Out, I'm Right Here" will be on view at Tomio Koyama Gallery in Kiyosumi-
shirakawa from September 1st to September 29th.
