Shen Xue Zhe
Shen Xue Zhe is third generation of Korean ancestry living in the far North-East of China. Much of his work looks at the lives of the Korean ethnic minority of his region. The China – North Korean border is defined by a mountain and two rivers, Mt Baekdu in the center, the Yalu River to the southwest and the Tumen River as it flows northeast into the Sea of Japan. Shen has made a series of very fine photographs, standing in China, the land of his birth, looking out over the Tumen River into the land of his ancestors, North Korea.
