Artists

Noritoshi Hirakawa
Born in Fukuoka prefecture in 1960, Noritoshi Hirakawa began working as an artist from 1988. He moved to New York in 1993 and has worked with arts practitioners from all the world, in every field and genre: photography, video, sound, text, video and installations. In addition to some 300 exhibitions across the globe, he has also conducted performances and lectures.

This is Hirakawa's first large-scale exhibition in Japan and explores the connections between art and society, encouraging us to re-consider the role that art plays, as well as looking back at the revolutions of awareness that he has sought out, the limits of possibilities that his work has exhausted.
