Maki Fine Arts is pleased to present "Hiroshi Tachibana, Eiki Okuda, Taiyo Kimura" from Saturday, March 24 through Saturday, April 14, 2012. This three-artist group show will feature new two-and three-dimensional works created by Hiroshi Tachibana, Eiki Okuda, and Taiyo Kimura. Hiroshi Tachibana works in New York and focuses on the abstract expressions produced accidently from materials such as paint. In his two-dimensional work using a layering technique on canvas, Tachibana attempts to present the coexistence of "what is born internally from one's self" and "what is born into existence from the rest." This year, Tachibana was selected as one of the "30 Artists to Watch in 2012" by NY Arts Magazine. Recipient of the Encouragement Award for The Gunma Biennale for Young Artists 2008, Eiki Okuda has been creating playful works that stimulate the viewer's perception. In this show, Okuda will showcase two-dimensional works where digital images, such as a mosaicked Steve Jobs and the TV game "TETRIS," are transformed into handmade pictorial expressions. Taiyo Kimura has received high acclaim, both domestically and internationally, for various works of film, installation, and three-dimensional art by taking the trivial strangeness lurking in our day-to-day life and presenting it as new value. In this show, Kimura will showcase a new three-dimensional artwork.
