Artists

Lee Youngbin
The Seoul-based artist Lee Youngbin uses traditional Korean materials to create pure and delicate imagery with watercolors and Korean ink on paper. The works in this exhibition are a series based on public bathhouses, with tiles and nude figures rendered in delicate lines. Some drawings focus on large spaces, while others concentrate on small figures depicted as equal in separation from socially defined roles. Her works also express the concept of “Ying” (shadows, darkness, negativity) and the thought of finding hope and beauty in the negativity. Still, the fragility and sense of loneliness in her work is closely connected to strength.
