Eyes of Sori Yanagi

Japan Folk-Craft Museum
Finished
In addition to working as a industrial designer, Sori Yanagi (1915-2011) served for around 30 years as the third director of the Japan Folk-Craft Museum. Yanagi traveled the world, taking in all that he saw, and gained perspectives that shaped his sense of aesthetics and design from the vivacity and power of places such as Africa and Asia. Featuring masks, fabrics, ceramics, and other artifacts from the ancient and modern East and West, this exhibition introduces the items that influenced Yanagi’s life in design.
