Hideo Noda + Tamiji Kitagawa + Yasuo Kuniyoshi "Dream over the Pacific"

Toki-no-Wasuremono
Finished

Artists

Hideo Noda, Tamiji Kitagawa, Yasuo Kuniyoshi
The world of Japanese modern painting was intimately woven with the art of Europe and in particular France, with many Japanese artists aiming to establish themselves in Paris and taking up the European avant-garde style. But amongst this drive towards the cities of Europe there were those artists who made their way to America and although little known at the time continued in their unique practices. With Hideo Noda, whose warm depictions of passers-by are highly received in Japan and America, Tamiji Kitagawa, who traveled to Mexico in 1914 continuing his original style removed from academic dictates, and Yasuo Kuniyoshi, with confrontation of those on the periphery of society, this exhibition introduces work of 3 modern painters who went over the pacific.
