Two art fairs land upon Spiral at the same time, with “Emerging Directors’ Art Fair : Ultra”, in which individual young directors under 40 take the opportunity to present their various initiatives, and “+Plus : The Art Fair” introducing leading art from Japan across numerous genres.

“Ultra”, initiated in 2008 and marking its 6th volume this year, has succeeded in creating a stir with the cutting edge curation of independent and gallery-based directors. This year it present 52 directors over two periods, offering a taste of the very “now” in contemporary art.

“+Plus”, relaunched last year in tandem with “Ultra” features the work of some of Japan’s highest quality contemporary art as carefully selected by 7 leading galleries allowing visitors and budding collectors to encounter fresh work at close quarters.
