Jakuchu Ito "Floral Designs of Edo"

Gallery Hugo's Minami Aoyama
Finished

Artists

Jakuchu Ito
The master painter of the Edo Period Jakuchu Ito, is well known for his chicken illustrations, but also produced an anthology of plants, painted during his stay at Kyoto's Shogyoji temple. The original having been poorly preserved is not available for display but fortunately during the Meiji era a printed copy of this book was produced, and it is through these woodprint reproductions that we may now appreciate the world of floral design of the Edo period.
