Since the Great East Japan Earthquake occurred in 2011 the values of individuals and society have undergone significant changes, and art is no exception to this. With a whole host of projects taking on support for regeneration, drawing attention to nuclear issues and emphasizing the culture and community of the Tohoku region, art has come to develop a new approach with an intense focus upon its link to society. As a record of these changes the new publication “Art and Disaster” documents through a series of interviews the transformations witnessed as a result of the earthquake. In commemoration of the release of this book a talk show is held between art critics, project leaders and artists Yasushi Kurabayashi, Masato Nakamura, Kazumasa Chiba.
