poster for The Posters of Shuuji Terayama and Tenjou Sajiki

This event has ended.

Posters for all plays by the underground theatre troupe Tenjou Sajiki, founded by Shuuji Terayama. The iconic posters feature the work of Tadanori Yokoo, a member of the group in 1967, as well as several other artists including Kiyoshi Awazu, Akira Uno, and Kuniyoshi Kaneko. The posters’ messages capture the intensity of Japan during the era while transcending the age and continuing to ring true today. The exhibition also features manuscript drafts, fliers, pamphlets, and other materials for Terayama’s work.
