Tadashi Tonoshiki “Remaining Works”

Toki-no-Wasuremono
Finished

Artists

Tadashi Tonoshiki
Born in Hiroshima, Tadashi Tonoshiki portrayed his experience with the atom bombed by drawing the belongings of the deceased and his memories of Hiroshima with extremely precise pointillism. He later expressed challenging, critical messages about the absurdity of modern society with installations that filled venues with old tires and other discarded materials. He passed away at the age of 50 in 1992.

In this exhibition, Toki-no-Wasuremono introduces around 20 of Tonoshiki’s early works, including highly detailed pointillist oil paintings and prints depicting subjects such as animals, everyday objects, and the bricks of the Atom Bomb Dome.
