Akito Akagi
Akito Akagi gave up his job as an editor at the age of 26 to study Japanese lacquering in Wajima, Ishikawa Prefecture. He became an independent craftsman in 1994 after six years of strenuous training.

Lacquering changed his life, but what is it that Akagi finds so appealing about the art? Moreover, while lacquer ware is thought to represent Japan, how much do Japanese people really know about it, and how much do they actually use its products? Akagi will give a talk (in Japanese) on the importance of lacquering for Japanese society in conjunction with the publication of his new book.

Reservations are required and seating is limited. Please see the webpage for details.
