Ichigo Sugawara
Ichigo Sugawara apprenticed as a commercial photographer under Osamu Hayasaki after graduating from the photography department of the Osaka University of Arts. He moved to France in 1986 and began freelancing the following year, producing original prints with subjects such as scenery, plants, and people. In recent years he has pursued wet plate photography as a method of photographing the “temperature of light.” Combining classical photography techniques with inkjet printing technology, he continues to make works that fulfill the new potential of photography.

Gallery 360° and Toki-no-Wasuremono are jointly holding exhibitions commemorating the publication of Sugawara’s two-volume photo collection, “Daylight | Blue.” Toki-no-Wasuremono presents 14 prints from “Blue,” a major work of the 1990s, including photos from his “Correspondances” series taken at the colonnades of Piazza San Marco in Venice, and works from “Norway,” which capture the beautiful sprays of the Stalheim Waterfall.
