Asks “what is sculpture?” by exploring the theme of graves. Graves are places with inscribed headstones where the dead are buried, but also allude to what is hidden beneath them and to other worlds. This element of the hidden can also be found in sculpture. With these ideas in mind, this exhibition displays the works of the sculpting faculty along with ancient Etruscan headstones and works exploring “hidden places” by artists including Alberto Giacommeti and Isamu Noguchi.
