Yasumasa Morimura - Rembrandt Room Revisited

Hara Museum of Contemporary Art (Tokyo)
Finished

Artists

Yasumasa Morimura
Renowned for his series of self portraits in unique interpretations of actresses and characters from famous paintings, Morimura here presents a reworking of an exhibition presented at the same museum 20 years ago in 1994. Taking the 17th century Dutch master Rembrandt as his focus, he here attempts to find the self amongst the light and dark of this complex figure and present issues pressing to contemporary society.
