Artists

Madoka Furuhashi
Madoka Furuhashi began her career in architecture and since moving into the world of art, she has come to render everyday objects into art works in a way that investigates the very sites and frameworks for defining art. Examples of her work include an installation utilizing objects she found left behind in her rented house in London, arranging along with photographs, half-broken furniture and kitchen utensils left by past inhabitants. For this exhibition, her first solo show in Japan, she exhibits new works created from used everyday objects collected in Japan, such as fish bowls and insect cages, as well as agricultural implements. She explores the stories that surround such objects, drawing forth their inherent power.
