Georges Rousse
The famous French artist Georges Rousse and curator Aomi Okabe will hold a special lecture. Due to damages from the Great East Japan Earthquake, plans are underway to demolish the much-loved café Loin in Matsushima, Miyagi Prefecture. Rousse, born in Paris in 1947, is conducting a project to preserve the memory of buildings destroyed or slated for demolition because of the disaster. As he did after the Great Hanshin Earthquake, he will draw pictures and take photographs of these spaces. This lecture will introduce the project in Miyagi and describe its activities.
