During the 19th and early 20th centuries, Paris, France was the center for a group of painters who stimulated and influenced one another, including impressionists Renoir and Monet, as well as Redon, Toulouse-Lautrec, and Vallotton. During this period, the artists of Europe searched for and created new kinds of expression, making it the most productive period in the history of art, and also a period of great change. This exhibition presents a group of selected works from the Mitsubishi Ichigokan Museum collection which epitomize the dreams, ideals, and notions of freedom of that time, created by 29 artists who have come to hold much influence on following artistic developments. Here visitors can enjoy these 149 carefully chosen works, including some which are being publicly displayed for the first time since being added to the collection.
