Artists

Abel Barroso, Sandra Ramos
2 members of the third generation of artists since the Cuban revolution bring a body of their latest work to Tokyo, drawing from major international collections from around the world. Coming to Japan for the first time in 2003 to present the “Promote-arte 3rd World Internet Café”, Abel Barroso is an artist working in wooden sculpture to create mock replicas of the latest technology and this time returns to Tokyo with his latest version of the low tech Cuban smart phone. US based Sandra Ramos on the other hand presents through self portraits along the theme of “Alice in Wonderland”, her painted suitcase series and recent video installation, the wish to break free of Cuban socialism, with the loss of utopian vision and hope, and here features a collection of 2D and video animation work.
