Aru Sunaga
Aru Sunaga randomly selects sentences from novels and other texts and creates images which emerge from these words. The randomness of this choice allows her to escape from the context of the phrases, losing their narrative, and in so doing respond merely to the words. Through this outer stimulus her own memory is moved to connect with various images, coming to attain a form otherwise quite unimaginable. Through her work she continues to explore the “where the image lies within, and how this can be called upon”.
