The Nakanojo Biennale in Nagano Prefecture aims to revive mountain village culture through contemporary art. Its fourth installment offers paintings, sculptures, photographs, installations, and more across the hot spring town of Nakanojo’s wooden school building and other local sites. It also features open and closing ceremonies, dance performances, a satellite exhibition at the architectural museum, a collaborative studio film festival, workshops with the artists, and bus-guided tours on the weekends.
