“Simulation and Form - The Photography and Experiments of Shozo Kitadai”

Taro Okamoto Museum of Art, Kawasaki
Finished

Artists

Shozo Kitadai
Shozo Kitadai was a core member of the pioneering inter-media group of the 1950’s “Jikken Kobo”, and as part of this collective he worked across a wide range of creative fields including painting, mobiles, stage design and film making, with a particularly mechanical style which recalls the eye of an engineer. This exhibition brings focus to his central expression of photography, providing an overview of his work associated with Jikken Kobo and Graphic Shudan, as well as that produced as a commercial photographer, while pursuing experimental approaches including the use of pinhole and hand-made cameras. Here the audience is invited to enter Kitadai’s world of play and curiosity.
