Finished

Artists

Beatriz Inglessis, Dr Hiroshi Nishimura, Renee Jackson, Shai Ohayon
A critical and pragmatic engagement with medical imagery, concepts and philosophies which intersect the domains of Art, Education, and Science will be explored in order to inquire about the role of effect, imagination, and narrative in medical education. The panelists participating in this conference will discuss such topics as the development of scientific narrative as a form of story-telling; the development of an awareness of some of the methods of medical narrative; and the implications of artful scientific narrative and aesthetic to both science and art education.

The panel will be 1.5 hours long and consist of a moderator introducing the topic, short 5-10 minute talks by each of the panelists about their disciplinary perspective, followed by a panel discussion which weaves the disciplinary perspectives together. This panel is part of an ongoing collaboration between Beatriz Inglessis, Dr Hiroshi Nishimura, Renee Jackson, and Shai Ohayon. This collaboration is part of an exhibition that will be held on January 2013 at The Container in Tokyo. The exhibition will show part of the research and art pieces by Beatriz Inglessis, current PhD 3rd year student at Tokyo University of the Arts.
