Artists

Taro Okamoto
From painting and sculpture to public art, product design, and writing, the diverse work of pioneering contemporary artist Taro Okamoto, including the towering mural "Myth of Tomorrow" in Shibuya station, continues to exert a powerful influence. Faces and eyes that seem to connect humans with the universe frequently appear in his work after 1970. These eyes strike the viewer as unified with Okamoto's own and represented as one. The first of a series to mark the first anniversary of Hikarie, this exhibition presents approximately 30 lithographs and etchings featuring faces and eyes as motifs.
