Initiated in 1967, the Bologna Children’s Book Fair is known as the largest picture book illustration competition in the world. In 2013 it received 3147 submissions from 64 countries around the globe, 77 of which were selected for exhibition, with 16 artists from Japan amongst this group. This year Itabashi Art Museum again presents the collection of all selected works, alongside a special exhibition of Japanese artists who through the Bologna Children’s Book Fair have come to publish their work abroad. There will also be a variety of events held throughout the exhibition period, further details of which may be found on the museum’s website.
