Tingatinga art is a painting style developed in the late 1960's in Tanzania by the artist Edward Saidi Tingatinga(1937~1972), a contemporary art form which draws upon image of animals and birds, the scenes of the Savannah and everyday life, depicted in 6 colors of enameled paint.
Throughout the exhibition, in addition to these works, a series of events will be held with live painting from artist Abbasi Mbuka as well as an "African Market" of colourful textiles, coffee, tea, scents and other Tingatinga goods. A proportion of all funds raised from this exhibition will be donated to regeneration efforts in Tohoku and the RedCap for Africa campaign.
