This event has ended.

Now in its 7th year, “Harajuku Peformance+” continues to present the latest movers and shakers of the creative scene. This year, it joins forces with artist Naohira Ukawa’s live streaming channel “Dommune” to spotlight up-and-coming artists and new cultural phenomena.

On the first day, “New Sound Generation” takes a close-up look at the musicians Shuta Hasunuma and Ei Wada with the Shuta Hasunuma Philharmonic Orchestra and Ei Wada’s “Open Reel Ensemble,” which features 20 open-reel decks for the world premiere of “Open Reel Orchestra.” The two musicians will also participate in a discussion reflecting on their activities since they last appeared in “Harajuku Performance +,” and look toward their futures in a snapshot of the present and future of a new type of musician.

The second-day event “City Boys & Girls – Japanese Literature Rap!!!!” provides a platform for the fast-growing movement of “Japanese Rap” featuring distinctive artists promoting this style of music, which has gripped young people across the world. All of this is supported by Dommune’s top-quality music and video system set up within Laforet Harajuku and operated by Ukawa himself. * Live streaming only on 21st December.
