A documentary film observing the production of some of the world’s most exquisite books by the small German company Steidl. Founder Gerhard Steidl travels across the world to engage in intimate meetings with artists and closely consult on every aspect of the creation of their catalogues, with clients including Martin Parr, Robert Frank, Robert Adams and Joel Sternfeld, with appearances also being made by artist Ed Ruscha, Nobel Prize winner Günter Grass and the Chanel designer Karl Lagerfeld.
